Vincent Cup & Barwon Plate 2022 – Results

Published on 27th July 2022 in members and guests

In addition to the many inter-club events held for members, the Club has a long history of hosting competitions between teams made up of non-members from around Victoria and beyond.

The Vincent Cup and Barwon Plate were recently rescheduled in order to create an exciting double-header over two consecutive days in July each year. This was designed to motivate more teams to make the trip to beautiful Barwon Heads to play in either or both competitions.

#1 – The Vincent Cup

Previously held in August, the Vincent Cup, once dubbed ‘the men’s Marrum Cup’ began when Robert Vincent a member from 1919 and president from 1929-1930 donated the cup in 1931. He was prominent in planning and supervising the construction of the Clubhouse.

The 2022 edition was played on Sunday 24th July 2022 and won by the team from Winchelea.

This is a four man team handicap par event for men with an individual par event held in conjunction with it. Clubs are welcome to enter two teams, with each club’s second team position to be decided by ballot.

Donated in 1988 by Millar Lowe in the final year of his presidency, the Barwon Heads Plate is an annual teams match with a history of attracting large fields.

In 2022 the Plate was played for on Monday 25th July 2022.

The format is the same as the Vincent cup, with a four man team competing in a handicap par event with an individual par event held in conjunction with it. Clubs are welcome to enter two teams, with each club’s second team position to be decided by ballot.

Congratulations to the team from Portsea who won in 2022. Congratulations also goes to David Miller (The National) for his win in the individual event.
