After a lengthy hiatus due to COVID-19, Aces returns on Sunday 1st November 2020. However, places are limited and there are some necessary changes to how it is usually run.

  • There will be three sessions – 11:00am, midday and 1:00pm

  • Maximum of six children per group

  • Bookings are essential and must be made via the Pro Shop (email or phone 5255 6255)

  • Masks are required for anyone over 12 years old

  • Preference is for children to have their own Clubs, but some will be available to borrow.

Sessions will fill on a first-to-book basis so please reserve your place as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to choose a particular time slot, but we understand that some children will want to be with their friends so we’re happy for one parent to book multiple spots in the one clinic.

Access to the Clubhouse is only available to those who are members of the Club (and their guests) and is limited by patron number restrictions. And of course, unless the rules change beforehand, only residents of regional Victoria may attend the Aces sessions.

Please make sure you’re dressed appropriately while on the course. Take a moment to look at the Club’s dress code. In general terms we require everyone to wear neat attire including a collared shirt/polo (tucked in for boys), tailored trousers/shorts/skirts, white socks (for boys wearing shorts) and closed shoes. You can read all about the dress code on the website.

Regional Victoria (inc. Geelong/Barwon Heads) is currently on the Third Step of the government’s roadmap to recovery. This is affecting the Club’s normal operations.

Unfortunately residents of the Melbourne metropolitan area are still unable to travel intrastate to the Club.

The current situation at the Club is:

The Clubhouse has reopened to members under restricted operating conditions in accordance with Step 3 of the government's roadmap to recovery. Hospitality limits apply and drivers licences are being checked when proof of residential address is required.

Members can view this post for more information.

At this stage members and their guests (only) are able to play on the main course and use the practice facilities (density restrictions apply).

Member’s guests are allowed on Mondays and Fridays (all day) and on Sundays (afternoons only). This arrangement has been made on the proviso that when Melbourne metropolitan restrictions ease, access to guests may be stopped, or significantly limited, to ensure the maximum opportunity for Melbourne-based members to access the course.

Due to high demand, reciprocal club and green fee players are currently unable to access the course. We look forward to welcoming back these guests when pressure on the timesheet eases. The situation will be reviewed regularly.

Green fee players and reciprocal club members can enquire about booking a round on the main course at a future date by clicking on this link.

Guests are required to show proof of address prior to using the facilities at the Club, and conform to other government restrictions such as wearing a fitted mask while playing.

The Par-3 course has re-opened to all.

However, there can be no walk-ups. Every player must be registered on the timesheet prior to play. Members can do this themselves, online or by calling the Pro Shop to make a booking. Non-members must book via the Pro Shop (5255 6255) and will be required to show proof of address prior to using the facilities.

Players must also conform to other government restrictions such as wearing a fitted mask while playing, maintaining social distance at all times and not sharing equipment.

The accommodation facilities within the Clubhouse remain closed until further notice. This is due to the patron count limits imposed under Step 3.

We welcome your accommodation enquiry either by telephone 03 5255 6255 or through the contact us page on the website. We expect strong demand during late spring / early summer. Tee times will be limited.

If you have an existing booking and would like to cancel or discuss, please contact reservations on 03 5255 6255. You can also email info@barwonheads.golf

If you’re a regular guest and your annual group booking was cancelled, please contact reservations to express your interest in retaining your regular dates for 2021. The reservations team will contact group leaders with existing bookings as their dates approach.

The Club encourages interested young golfers to register and be involved in The Barwon Heads Golf Club’s ‘Junior ACES’ program.

The Aces program is open to non-members and is aligned with MyGolf, Australia’s national junior introductory program to develop and promote participation in golf. The Club’s program shares the same aims of MyGolf, that is to increase participation and engagement in golf by children, and provide a fun, accessible and satisfying introduction to the sport of golf by promoting skills development, as well as the social and fun aspects of the sport.

If you’ve been directed to this page from the MyGolf site you will discover that the Barwon Heads ‘Aces’ program runs a little differently to most programs listed on www.mygolf.org.au

Most programs on the MyGolf site are weekly and run during school terms. Aces, however, is held on the first Sunday of each month from February to December. Prepayment is not required, participants can come when they want and pay $10 per session on the day at the Pro Shop. A reminder email will be sent to registered participants the week prior and an indication of attendance is required.

The objectives of the Club’s junior program are to:

  • Support juniors to achieve their golfing goals

  • Enable the Club to become a leading centre of junior golf in Victoria

  • Develop a passion for the game of golf and a love and appreciation of the Club

  • Develop an active and vibrant junior membership category of the Club

The BHGC ACES program features:

  • Aces will be conducted on the first Sunday of each month between February and December (except in November when it is held on the second Sunday due to Father’s Day).

  • BHGC Professionals will provide tuition and range balls.

  • ACES par-3 tee times to be formally set aside on the Club timesheet.

  • On selected Sundays there will be presentations and prizes will be awarded in the Clubhouse.

Please take some time to read through the documentation in the links below and return your registration form as soon as possible. If you have any questions please contact the Junior Program Coordinator, Hague Shier, on 0419 887 429.

Please contact the Club if you wish to be added to the Junior Aces email list. Recipients will receive reminders about upcoming Aces sessions and an occasional newsletter with junior news.
