Vincent Cup & Barwon Plate 2023
Published on 17th March 2023 in Guest OnlyThe Barwon Heads Golf Club is excited to continue with the change of format for our premier men’s teams events, which we successfully trialled for the first time in 2022.
To allow golfers the opportunity to stay and play at The Barwon Heads Golf Club and enjoy the wonderful township of Barwon Heads, the Vincent Cup and Barwon Heads Plate will be held on consecutive days – Sunday 23rd July and Monday 24th July respectively.
We call it the Barwon Heads Double Header.

Note that it is not necessary to play in both events, but is a wonderful opportunity to have the glory of winning back to back events, and perhaps the Barwon Cup trophy for the best individual across both days.
#1 – The Vincent Cup
Previously held in August, the Vincent Cup, once dubbed ‘the men’s Marrum Cup’ began when Robert Vincent a member from 1919 and president from 1929-1930 donated the cup in 1931. He was prominent in planning and supervising the construction of the Clubhouse.
The 2023 edition will be played on Sunday 23rd July 2023 (Shotgun start 12:30pm).
This is a four man team handicap par event for men with an individual par event held in conjunction with it. Clubs are welcome to enter two teams, with each club’s second team position to be decided by ballot.
#2 – The Barwon Heads Plate
Donated in 1988 by Millar Lowe in the final year of his presidency, the Barwon Heads Plate is an annual teams match with a history of attracting large fields. Played against par, the scores of all four members of the teams are counted.
In 2023 the Plate will be played for on Monday 24th July (Shotgun start 8:00am).
The format is the same as the Vincent cup, with a four man team competing in a handicap par event with an individual par event held in conjunction with it. Clubs are welcome to enter two teams, with each club’s second team position to be decided by ballot.
Special Accommodation Package
Registered entrants in either of the Vincent Cup or Barwon Heads Plate can stay overnight in the iconic Barwon Heads Clubhouse on a special bed and breakfast package.
Single room $195 and Twin share at $120 per person
The rate includes your room and a cooked breakfast but not the entry fees.
An overnight stay in the Clubhouse combined with a round the following morning is the best way to experience links golf at Barwon Heads.
