Dress Code

The Barwon Heads Golf Club has a dress code aimed at maintaining a relaxed yet respectful environment. It differs between the course and the Clubhouse, and between men and women. Please review it – and share with your guests – before visiting.

General Guidelines – Clubhouse

We welcome members and guests to enjoy the Clubhouse in smart, neat casual wear at all times. Blue denim, singlets, leggings, casual shorts, and rubber thongs are not permitted in shared areas of the Clubhouse.

Neat and appropriate golf or tennis attire—including soft spike shoes—is acceptable. As a courtesy and in keeping with Club tradition, caps, hats, and visors should be removed upon entering the Clubhouse.

House Guests arriving or departing may not always meet full dress standards. This is acceptable provided their clothing and footwear are neat, clean, tidy and unlikely to cause offence.

Dress code information

Learmonth Room Dress Code

The Learmonth Room has been enjoying early success, with members frequently stopping by to enjoy pre-golf snacks and refreshments. But it’s not just for golfers – tennis groups, Bluff-walkers and members simply enjoying their own Barwon Heads cafe-space have also been making use of this welcoming space.

To encourage members and guests to continue to make use of the Learmonth Room when passing by the Clubhouse, we will be trialling a slightly more relaxed dress standard in this space.

During the trial period, modest and discreet active wear (including walking and cycling attire) with appropriate closed footwear will be accepted in the Learmonth Room and the adjacent locker rooms. Beach attire is not permitted.

The Clubhouse and Course dress code remains unchanged, and members and their guests are required to observe the usual smart casual standards in all other shared areas of the Clubhouse. Click here to view the dress code for the Course and Clubhouse. Remember: No blue denim anywhere in the Clubhouse or course.

The trial will run until 31 January 2026, after which the Committee will review all feedback received. We welcome your input as we continue exploring ways to make the Learmonth Room an even more welcoming and convenient space for all members.
