CLUBHOUSE COMPLETION FUND
$1,446,863 - a fantastic result for FY24
The Committee is pleased to report that at the 30 June close of the 2024 Financial Year, the Clubhouse Completion Fund stood at just under $1.45 million in gifts and pledges.
The Committee sincerely thanks each and every donor for their wonderful support.
This fantastic result reflects the extraordinary generosity of members who have responded so quickly to the "Let's get it done in one" appeal. When you think that the Clubhouse Completion Fund was launched just five short weeks ago, the result is simply outstanding.
Of course, the end of FY24 does not signal the end of the "Let's get it done in one" appeal - far from it! The Club has until 1 September to reach the target of $6.8 million to be able to complete Stage 2. And today marks the start of a new financial year (FY25) and thus another year for tax-deductible donations and pledges.
Please keep the momentum going. We are well on the way to success. If you have not already done so, please consider a gift to the Clubhouse Completion Fund.

Farewell Alan
Not one but two 'fully booked' farewells took place on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 June for Alan Brewer. There were speeches from the president on both occasions, plenty of laughter, a few tears, many best wishes and... Collingwood's 2023 Premiership Cup.
Entries are now open for the men's (inc. the GC Adams & HF Tucker Foursomes) and women's Club Foursomes Championships.
As with other championships, members are given the option of playing their qualifying round either on a weekday or on a weekend. This year the weekday qualifying round for men and women is on Tuesday 6 August and the weekend round for men and women is on Sunday 11 August.
Since this event was played last, the Match Sub-Committee committee agreed to alter the conditions of the H.F. Tucker Foursomes event so the G.C. Adams qualifiers cannot qualify for the nett event finals. This brings the event into line with the conditions of the Women's Foursomes Championships and is designed to encourage higher handicap golfers to compete.

Administration
Staff in the golf shop, coffee caravan or the marquee will always do their best to address member enquiries, but sometimes, (for example when paying an account in person), you might need to pay a visit to 'Gullane', where finance and membership staff are located during the Clubhouse renovations.
Gullane is the white weatherboard, Club-owned house at No.3 Golf Links Rd, adjacent to the Barwon Heads Primary School.
Please feel welcome to call in between 9.00am-4.00pm Monday to Friday. Tip: it's best to avoid trying to park in this area around school drop-off (8.30-8.50) and pick-up (3.10-3.30pm) times.
Congratulations to Letitia Shelton OAM (pictured above) on being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division in the 2024 King's Birthday Honours List. Letitia, (member since 1998) was recognised for service to the Royal Human Society of Australasia.
elanora - Challenge Cup
Thirty-two members travelled to Elanora Country Club to represent Barwon Heads in the annual Challenge Cup - a 4BBB Stableford event for men and women played over two days in mid-June.
After day one, the combined scores had Elanora ahead 594 to 543 with Mark Bain & Richard Smith the men's 4BBB runners up. Similar scores on day two of 587 and 539 resulted in the combined two-day total of 1181 (Elanora) and 1082 (BHGC). Well done to who all who played and thank you for representing the Club.

Local Expertise
Last month, a panel of industry experts including winemakers and sommeliers awarded the prestigious Premier's Trophy at the 2024 Victorian Wine Show to the 2022 Oakdene Liz's Chardonnay (Bellarine).
F&B Manager Anton Sergent selected and featured this wine on the Club's wine list many months ago and the 2022 was enjoyed by many members since. The 2023 vintage is now available.
Lost Property
If you have lost (or found) property on Club grounds, a lost property box is located in the buggy storage area of the golf shop. Please ask staff for assistance.
There were several items, including hats and shoes, left in the women's locker room prior to the Clubhouse closure. If you recall leaving items in the locker room, these may be in the lost property box.
Men, Women & Mixed Guest Day
Sunday 4 August 2024 (am)
Please note the change from a shotgun start to a single tee start. (Open timesheet from 7:24am - 11:54am).
Make your bookings directly onto the timesheet when it opens eight-days prior at 3.00pm (Saturday 27 July).
Any combination of pairings is suitable so long as there is one member per pair. Each member can only bring one guest. The format is 4BBB Stableford. There is no green fee but a $5 competition fee will be charged per person. Refreshments at players' expense will be available in the marquee on completion of golf.
Renovations to the Clubhouse haven't required the annual community day to be cancelled, but they have changed its format. It will be held on the first Sunday in August, as usual. Bookings are now open.

Good Luck
Good luck to members Anna Jamieson, Annie Seccull and Alison Watkins who will be travelling to Malaysia this month to play in the 47th Royal Selangor Amateur Women's Championships.
The three women (who also represented Barwon Heads in Div.1 pennant this year) saw the event advertised and took it upon themselves to get organised and enter a team.
One of BHGC's reciprocal clubs, Royal Selangor, is located in Kuala Lumpur and was established in 1893, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in Asia.
Precinct 1 Project - Weekly Update
