COMMITTEE'S CLUBHOUSE TOUR

The Verdict: "Continued good progress and great work by Alchemy to overcome challenges."

Last week, the Committee was given a detailed tour of the Clubhouse renovation site by Alchemy's Project Manager Finbarr Kerr-Newell and Construction Manager Frank Lombardo. It had been three months since the Committee's last tour and so everyone was very keen to see the building works for themselves. The walkthrough provided a valuable insight into the significant progress made over the summer, as well as the complex challenges that Alchemy has had to overcome in the process.

CLUBHOUSE COMPLETION FUND

Very much open for pledges and new donations.

The Committee would like to acknowledge again the wonderful generosity of the many members who have supported the Clubhouse Completion Fund. To date, more than $1.85 million has been donated in gifts and pledges to help cover the costs of Stage 2. The Fund remains very much open, not only for those still finalising their pledges but also for any member who may feel inspired to give (or give again) by the sight of our 'new' Clubhouse taking shape before our very eyes. If you are excited by what you see as you walk up the 7th and 18th fairways, please consider supporting the Fund. Donations can be made via the Australian Sports Foundation website (tax deductible) or directly to the Club's Future Fund (non-tax deductible). Every gift is gratefully received. If you have any queries, please contact the General Manager, Anthony Masters.

Temporary Billiards Access at The Geelong Club

We're pleased to share that Barwon Heads Golf Club members can now access The Geelong Club for the purpose of playing billiards, thanks to a special arrangement in place while our clubhouse remains closed.

This opportunity will run until our clubhouse reopens later in the year, providing members a great way to continue enjoying the game in a welcoming and well-equipped setting.

For more information, please contact the Club via email or reach out directly to a member of the Billiards Sub-Committee.

New bhgc App Nearing Launch

The Club is in the final testing phase of an exciting new mobile app, soon to be released to members. Designed with user experience in mind, the app will offer improved navigation and allow members to customise their homepage for quick access to frequently used features.

With just a few taps, members will be able to book golf, view results, check monthly statements and competition prize credits, track leaderboards, and follow matchplay events. A dedicated news feed will also keep you up to date with the latest happenings around the Club.

Stay tuned for more details on the official launch.

Incident Reporting

Have you seen something unsafe on Club property? Experienced a near miss? Hooked a ball on the first tee and heard glass shatter?

Please take a few moments to report it. Your report helps us maintain a safe environment for all members, guests and staff.

Submissions are automatically emailed to the General Manager and treated with care and discretion.

men's invitational challenge

This year's Men's Invitational Challenge will feature 14 teams, bringing together players from clubs across Australia and New Zealand.

Despite our clubhouse currently being closed, we're thrilled by the strong enthusiasm for the event. Participants will not only enjoy playing on our course, but also have the opportunity to experience some of the exceptional dining the village offers.

The following clubs have confirmed their participation:  Avondale, Barwon Heads, Elanora, Kooyonga, Lake Karrinyup, Royal Adelaide, Royal Auckland & Grange, Royal Canberra, Royal Hobart, Royal Melbourne, Royal Perth, Royal Queensland, Royal Sydney and The National.

MARRUM CUP 100TH YEAR - CAN YOU HELP?

If you, your parents or grandparents have memories or mementos tucked away - in albums, boxes or even the attic - now is the perfect time to revisit them. Your contribution could help bring the rich legacy of the Marrum Cup to life for future generations.

Normally held in May, the 2025 Marrum Cup will be held in late September.

To share your history, please contact Museum Sub-Committee Chair Val Lawrence.

RULES

By the golf shop staff.

During the third round of the RBC Heritage tournament on the PGA Tour, Justin Thomas encountered an incident in a waste area. While attempting to move small rocks around his ball, the 31-year-old believed he had inadvertently caused the ball to move. Aware of the potential rules implications, Thomas promptly called over a rules official to report the situation. However, there was no close-up footage available to definitively confirm the movement of the ball.

Question: What is the correct procedure and is there a penalty that needs to be applied?

Answer below.
