Dear member,

Following the reopening of the Clubhouse, the Event eNews returns.

Usually sent in the final week of each month, it provides details of forthcoming golf and Clubhouse events along with occasional recaps of those recently enjoyed. You will need to be logged in to the member website for the links in this email to open seamlessly.

THE CELEBRATION - AT CAPACITY

Official Clubhouse Opening Cocktail Party

Date: This Saturday 1 November

Time: 6.30pm - 9.00pm (Speeches at 7.15pm)

Excitement is building for this Saturday’s Official Clubhouse Opening Cocktail Function. The response has been extraordinary, with attendance now at capacity and a waitlist in operation.

If you’ve registered but find you’re unable to attend, please remove your name at your earliest convenience to allow others the opportunity to join the celebration.

Further event details will be emailed to attendees later in the week.

Note: Due to the set-up required to welcome more than 300 guests, the Links Room and Bar will close early on Saturday at 4.30pm. For golfers finishing after this time, the Learmonth Room will be staffed from 4.30pm - 6.30pm where a limited bar and food offering will be available.

NO BLUE DENIM

Members are reminded that while smart, neat casual wear is welcome in the Clubhouse, Committees past and present have agreed that certain items of clothing are not in keeping with the standards and traditions of The Barwon Heads Golf Club — this includes blue denim.

As staff are not positioned at every Clubhouse entrance, it is the responsibility of members to ensure that they and their guests are appropriately attired.

WEDNESDAY GOLFERS' CUP

Philip Misso is the current leader with the next qualifying round to be played this Wednesday 29 October.

Save the date: End of Year Dinner - Wednesday 10 December. Details are yet to be finalised but the registration timesheet is open.

MELBOURNE CUP & Oaks Day

Tuesday 4 November 2025

Thursday 6 November 2025

The colourful Spring Carnival atmosphere returns to the Clubhouse for 2025 with lunch in the Clubhouse after golf on Melbourne Cup Day and Oaks Day. Bookings are open.

SHAW FOURSOMES

Dinner Saturday 8 November / Golf Sunday 9 November

Not only is it highly entertaining, the tradition of hosting a dinner the night before the Shaw Foursomes has deep-rooted significance. The dinner is not just a meal; it’s a cherished tradition that brings participants together to socialise, interact and build connections beyond the golf course — enhancing the overall club experience and celebrating the rich history and heritage of our Club. With dinner in the restored Clubhouse, this will be an event not to be missed.

FAMILY GOLF:

IAN WALL father & son JOINED BY REINSTATED parent & child TROPHY

Sunday 16 November, beginning with an 8:30am shotgun.

An exciting change for 2025 which has had an exciting response. Entries are already at capacity and a waitlist has been established.

The Ian Wall Father/Son event is being combined with a reinstated Parent & Child Trophy to create the perfect family golf day. Now pairs of Father/Son (in the Ian Wall Trophy) can play on the same day as Father/Daughter, Mother/Daughter and Mother/Son (Parent & Child Trophy) and mingle over lunch in the Clubhouse afterwards.

NB: Grandchildren, Stepchildren, and Son/Daughter in-laws can participate but all players need a handicap - but only one in each pair needs to be a member.

There is no 'included' lunch when you register for the shotgun start. Instead, please make a lunch booking separately and dine from the snack or lunch menu. There will lunch specials on the day.

If you would like to place your name on the waitlist, click the appropriate timesheet link below.
