Even Queensland has had some "pretty ordinary weather" according to Ben Henkel who continues to work his way around the state competing in various Pro-Am and Professional tournaments.
Perhaps his experience playing at Barwon Heads has helped as Ben has had his first professional win at the rainy JET Group Clermont Pro-Am on 26 June at the Clermont Golf Course. Ben said he didn’t let the weather affect him.

Be winter golf ready
The winter months can be a bit of a struggle on the golf course at times. Whilst the ball doesn't travel as far as normal and you can be restricted by those extra layers you need to keep warm, there are some simple things that you can do to excel on the course over the winter months.
Have a look at your grips, if they are getting a bit slippery and shiny it might be time to look at getting them replaced to ensure that you don't have to grip the club too tightly and be worried that it might fly out of your hands.
If you have spiked shoes, now might be the time to look at getting them re-spiked as in the winter months the ground can get a bit soft and lose, so fresh spikes will keep you stable throughout your swing.
Keep your hands warm with Footjoy WinterSof gloves or if it is raining both Footjoy and TaylorMade make a rain grip to help keep your hands secure on the club in the wettest of conditions.
Remember, that all members get 10% off the marked price of these items mentioned.
tip from the pro
By Jordan Kane
With winter bringing rain and mud, our clubs often get wet and dirty. This raises an important question: should you clean your clubs before or after each shot? And what happens if you don't clean your clubs and grooves?
Unsurprisingly, it turns out that moisture or debris on your club can result in a significant change to your ball flight. Based on testing with Trackman, the golf ball may spin up to 20% less and can also be launched higher with a wedge. This means it can be much harder to work out how far the ball will go and how to stop it on the green. If you see your golf ball roll off the green or come up shorter than you might expect, make sure you are cleaning your clubs to ensure you are giving it your best chance to hit the green.
Just remember to make sure your pace of play isn't affected. Your group—or those behind you—don't want to be delayed by someone polishing their club.
