News from The Committee helps keep members informed of happenings at Committee level.

Tuesday 30 January 2024

Dear member,

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION

The Committee would like to thank all the members who voted in the recent extraordinary general meetings. Eighty-three per cent of eligible members participated, which was a very high voter turnout. This ensured that the results were reflective of the full range of views across the Club, with a majority of members who voted giving approval for the borrowing facility and for Stage 1 of the Clubhouse renovation to proceed.

STAGE 1 FINAL PREPARATIONS

The Committee held its first meeting for the year on Thursday 25 January, with the focus on the final preparations for commencement of Stage 1.

Key decisions included:

  • Appointment of Brad Van Cuylenberg (BVC Projects) as the Project Manager for the construction phase (Stage 1). Brad has managed the design-development and tender phase over the last year and has a thorough knowledge of the project.
  • Approval of the particulars of the construction contract with Alchemy Construct, which has been prepared by the Club's lawyers Maddocks. Signing of the contract will take place in due course.

It is expected that Alchemy will commence on 19 February, initially setting up fencing for its permanent worksite in the western car park area. This will be a designated construction site where strict occupational health and safety rules apply. Members must not enter the fenced work areas under any circumstances. Signage will clearly identify the no-go zones.

Please note that the car park for elderly members will not be affected by the worksite or early infrastructure works. It will remain open until the end of May 2024 when the Club will move to the temporary clubhouse.

Quarterly FInancial Report on Track

At its 25 January meeting, the Committee received a detailed quarterly financial report from the Treasurer, Bronwyn Constance, as well as the December monthly report from the finance manager. Financial results to 31 December are tracking in line with budget and results for the half year indicate that major KPIs, net profit and operating cash flows are on track to achieve budget for the 2023/24 year.

JUNIOR GOLF WEEK - RECORD NUMBERS

The Committee noted the great success of Junior Golf Week in January with a record 326 youngsters coming out to play on and off the golf course (up from 297 last year).

Numbers have increased steadily over the last five years, which has added to the enjoyment of the event for all. It is hoped that many of the participants will in time become junior members.

The Committee recorded its thanks to the Women's Golf Sub-Committee for managing this very busy week so well, and to the many volunteers who contributed to its success.
