STAFF NEWS
Welcome Craig!
We are excited to announce the commencement of a staff exchange program with our reciprocal club, Crail Golfing Society in Scotland. Craig Jackman started with us here in the golf shop in early January and will be here until the 10th of March 2024.
Craig, who works at Crail as an assistant professional, has begun a nine-week placement in The Barwon Heads Golf Shop participating in all activities of our golf operations: coaching, club-fitting, marshalling and golf shop retail. Please pop in and say hello. Generally, Craig will be here from Sunday to Wednesday along with the occasional Saturday.

New ping G430 max 10K
Ping have added a new driver to their G430 range - It's called MAX 10K because it eclipses the 10,000g-cm² combined MOI threshold, setting a record and making it their straightest and most forgiving driver ever. A fixed backweight, largest head profile, and a Carbonfly Wrap crown help G430 MAX 10K launch the ball higher with less spin for consistently longer and straighter results.

Golf Tips - Putting
This week's tip is about putting and is in two parts.
Firstly, many golfers are overly harsh on themselves when it comes to putting. Quite often I will hear golfers saying that their putting isn't good, because they haven't holed 80-90% of putts from say eight feet on the golf course. Golf can be hard!
The percentage of made putts from eight feet by golfers on the PGA tour is just 52.86%. The best players in the world are holing just over half of the putts from this distance. From 10 feet the PGA tour average is just 41.25%. If you holed 80-90% of putts from this distance you would be far beyond tour average. Not impossible, but possibly optimistic. So, next time you are playing on the course manage your expectations when putting. You will put less pressure on yourself and will hopefully enjoy the game much more!
My second putting tip is a drill to help with practicing your putting. To get feedback on your putting stroke, I would highly recommend this drill as it gives instant information.
Try to find as straight a putt as you can on the practice green and get into your setup position with a golf ball. Place two tees a ball width apart about one grip length from the golf ball in the direction of your target line. This sets you up with a very simple task: hit the ball through the tee gate, without hitting either tee. If your clubface is not square (pointing towards) to your target line, the ball will instantly hit one of the tees. If you see a pattern of one tee being hit more than the other, this is great information for you when on the course so that you can look to try and start the ball closer to your intended line. It may be that your alignment needs to be corrected to allow the ball to pass through the tees. If you are regularly hitting the tees, get booked into a lesson with one of our coaching staff and they will have your clubface alignment corrected in no time!
