Changes to golf operations due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
An all-member eNewswas sent by the Club on Wednesday 18th March 2020 outlining several important changes to normal operations. If you're yet to read the email from yesterday, please do so via the link below.
Since that email, new temporary local rules have been published and the Club has clarified its position on cart use.
No shared cart use.
The Club is restricting use to one person per cart as per Golf Australia recommendations. Sharing carts is no longer an option. As a result:
1. Fourteen carts will be available to hire at the normal rate.
2. Preference will be given to those with medical requirements during competition and social play rounds.
3. Preference will also be given to those who book via calling or emailing the proshop. The carts will be allocated when the booking is received. Recurring bookings will no longer be available.
4. We will always do our best to help members, but we expect there will be occasions when no carts are available.

Often, most of us have a swing fault that we are aware of, whether it be hitting off the back foot or hitting from the top on the downswing.
Swing thoughts are generally best left on the range. There is often more than enough to think about whilst out on the course. However, if you do like to take swing thoughts out onto the course with you, limit it to one simple thought. For example if you hit off the back foot you might say to yourself before making your swing, "weight towards the target" or if you hit from the top on the downswing you might say to yourself, "hips first, club second".
The reality is the golf swing is over so quickly it is almost impossible to have more than one swing thought. Your best bet is to keep it short and sweet for the message to get through.
Srixon Wedge Fitting Day - Wednesday 25th MarcH
For one day only, you can book in a short game tune up session at The Barwon Heads Golf Club. A representative from Cleveland Golf will be on the range to help you select the right new wedge (or set of wedges) and help you get your short game on the improve. Your 30-minute session includes assessing the right wedge style, bounce and grind for your game, wedge distance gap assessment and short game troubleshooting and tips.

Aces - Sun. 5th April - Cancelled
The next Aces session has been cancelled.
All Aces, red cap or not, are able to play the Par-3 course for free on Sunday 5th April.
Junior School holiday clinics
While Aces is cancelled, we intended to run these popular clinics due to the smaller group size. This decision may be revised, but Jess Bramble, Josh Page and Callum McKenzie hope to be running these fun junior clinics on the dates below.
Classes will be limited to a maximum of 8 juniors per class and are open to children and grandchildren of members. The clinic will involve a lot of ball hitting and games and is sure to be lots of fun for all our budding golf stars.
Open to juniors aged 8 - 16.
Clinics will run at a cost of $25 per junior, per class.

Welcome to the team, callum
Callum is a second-year trainee who has recently joined the team from Latrobe Golf Club in Melbourne. He grew up in Tallangatta, a small town near Albury-Wodonga, before moving to Melbourne to attend university in 2010.
In his first year as a trainee, Callum completed his playing component and had some good results. He finished the year as the number one first year academic in Australia and was named as one of the captains for 2020.
After completing his traineeship Callum hopes to travel and teach golf around the world before moving into a career in management.
Greens Renovation Annual game
With the greens renovation on the 10th and 11th of March the Pro Shop staff took the opportunity to get away and have a game together on the Tuesday. We headed over to the National Golf Club and played the Gunnamatta Course which was in fabulous condition. Unfortunately, Ian was unable to play due to a back injury, so Callum was invited along. Ashley and Jess played against Josh and Callum in what was a friendly match all be it with a bit of good-natured banter between all.
Ashley and Josh traded birdies throughout the day, with the match a tight tussle all day with some good quality golf played. Ashley and Jess managed to get over the line on the 17th hole for a 2-up victory.
We look forward to our next Pro Shop friendly.
Josh's course management lessons
Josh will be running some course management clinics throughout April / May. Clinics will be limited to 4 people per session so don't delay booking your spot. The cost for these sessions is $60 per person which includes 90 minutes of on-course, course management tuition, notes to take home, plus a stat sheet to help improve your golf.
