Member John Snell shared these images captured by his son-in-law recently. They're aerial views of the wetlands connected to Murtnaghurt Lagoon, adjacent to the 14th.

"I couldn't believe the difference in the colours between adjoining ponds, they appeared as muddy expanses from the shoreline." Charlie Maslin.

Women's Invitational Challenge

Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th August saw the hosting of one of the premier events on the women's golf program here at Barwon Heads: The 2019 Women's Invitational Challenge.

Eighteen reciprocal and associated clubs competed for the coveted trophy and it was wonderful to welcome players from as far afield as Royal Selangor GC (Malaysia)...

Vincent Cup

Once dubbed "the men's Marrum Cup', the Vincent Cup is an invitational four-member men's team event and has been played since 1931 when a trophy was donated by a former President of the Club, Mr. Robert Vincent (1929-1930).

This year's Vincent Cup was played on Sunday 25th August 2019 and congratulations go to the No. 2 team from Bannockburn who won the event with a score of -14.

Junior Vic Open - December

Please note that playing times at the Club have been altered slightly and differ from the 2019 diary/programme. There will now be no availability for players on Monday 16th December as the course will need to be closed for the entire day. However, Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th December 2019 will revert to normal Tuesday and Wednesday timesheets.

Victorian Men & Women's Senior Amateur Championship

Volunteers are sought to direct players to their starting holes for this Golf Australia event to be held here and at 13th Beach GC from Monday 16th (BHGC) to Wednesday 18th September.

BHGC volunteers are only required on Monday 16th September at 7.45pm and 1.00pm for the two multi-tee starts. If you can help, please email the Club's Golf Operations Manager, Narelle Alford.

Event information

Newbold takes GA Reins

Congratulations to member Andrew Newbold who is the new chairman of Golf Australia. Please click here to read the full article on the Golf Australia website.

Andrew is an accomplished golfer having won multiple trophies and a summer quarterly medal at the Club.

Composite Event

The annual BHGC & 13th Beach composite event is being held on Friday 4th October 2019, beginning here at The Barwon Heads Golf Club.

This event is for Members only and will be held over 18 holes, incorporating holes from both clubs.

An entry list will open on Friday 20th September at 3pm.

Aces Postponed until Sunday 8th

Today (1st September) is Father's Day, so Aces won't be held. Instead, play the par-3 this morning with Dad and then take him out to lunch!

September Aces will instead be held at 1pm next Sunday 8th September.

To assist the organisers, it would be very helpful if you could click here to send an email to let them know you're planning to attend on Sunday 8th.

Australian Golf Digest recently put the question to 190 of their course-rating panellists and came up with a list of the 25 Greatest Clubhouses in Australia. Barwon Heads was at the top of the list.

Golf & Bridge Biathlon

The annual golf and bridge biathlon is on again and promises to be great fun for enthusiasts of both games. Morning golf (4BBB pairs) on Sunday 8th September will be followed by lunch, then pairs bridge in the afternoon. It doesn't matter which is your strongest suit, the day is all about having fun.

Bay Bridge Challenge trophy

Played between Barwon Heads, Sorrento, Peninsula Kingswood and The National, this year's Bay Bridge Challenge will be played at The Barwon Heads Golf Club on Monday 14th October. Barwon Heads will be defending the trophy.
